One of the things that you trust us with is the security of your systems. We take this seriously, so we are always on the lookout for ways to better secure our clients’ systems.
Endpoint Detection and Response, or EDR, is an enhanced security measure that goes beyond standard antivirus and malware tools. Given the escalating security threats facing Australian businesses, Accel IT is incorporating EDR measures into our standard managed services package. Previously, this was only available as part of our premium cybersecurity service.
Antivirus and malware protection works by scanning data looking for patterns that match known threats. EDR looks for anomalous behaviours such as the sudden use of encryption tools or privilege escalations. Many times, a hack does not use any malware, it could be a misconfigured firewall, an insecure router, or a password that was compromised. In this case, EDR will detect and block the suspicious behaviour rather than suspicious data. This way, EDR can protect against not only known threats, but unknown threats.
We expect to have this deployed to all our clients within 2 weeks. So, if you are a managed services client, you will have the benefits of EDR at no extra charge.
With Accel IT, there is such a thing as a free lunch.
